The Red Guitar

Gibson ES-335

I really don't know if the guitar in these two pictures (The Red Guitar and Generations) is vintage or a reproduction; regardless, it is a beautiful guitar. I've done a bit of research and have learned a little bit about the Gibson ES-335.

The following information is from the Gibson website.

The ES-335 brought hollowbody tradition and solidbody performance together in 1958, and it is still one of the all-time classic guitar designs. The Gibson ES-355 is a true classic – a double cut-away body which incorporated a solid maple block within the thin body to blend the sustain available from a solid body with the resonance and tone from a hollow body.

The 335 was an important landmark in electric instrument technology. Its innovative body design was complemented by a slim, comfortable neck with excellent access to the upper frets. At a basic price of $267.50 it quickly became a best-seller, and has been in continuous production since 1958.
